Archieven van a) de curatoren van de Bibliotheca Thysiana in Leiden (opgericht in 1657 krachtens testamentaire beschikking door Johannes Thysius), 17de-20ste eeuw, en van b) leden van de familie Thijs en aanverwante families als l’Empereur en De Baccher, afkomstig uit de Zuidelijke Nederlanden en in de jaren 1580 als calvinistische vluchtelingen naar het noorden getrokken, ca. 1580-1650.

Papers of a) the governors of the Bibliotheca Thysiana in Leiden (founded in 1657 in pursuance of the last will of Johannes Thysius), 17th-20th century, and of b) members of the Thijs family and related families like l’Empereur and De Baccher, originating from the Spanish Southern Netherlands and migrated to the north as protestant refugees in the eighties of the 16th century, about 1580-1650.

Abstract in Dutch Een deel van het archief van Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje (1857-1936), islamoloog en arabist, adviseur van het Gouvernement van Nederlands-Indië (1889-1906) en hoogleraar Arabisch in Leiden (1906-1927). Het archief bevat brieven, politieke dossiers en andere documenten, typoscripten van voordrachten en publicaties en materiaal m.b.t. congressen en lidmaatschap van wetenschappelijke instituten.
