L. Onvlee (1893-1986) was zendeling en bijbelvertaler op Soemba en later hoogleraar Culturele Antropologie aan de Vrije Universiteit. Zijn archief bestaat uit correspondentie, aantekeningen, artikelen, vertalingen en andere stukken van Onvlee, zijn medewerkers en derden betreffende Soemba en de Soembase talen, zijn functie als hoogleraar en de Zending op Soemba.

L. Onvlee (1893-1986) was a missionary and Bible translator on Sumba and later professor of Cultural Anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit. His archive contains correspondence, notes, articles, translations and other documents of Onvlee, his employees and others, concerning Sumba and the Sumba languages, his function as professor and the Mission on Sumba.

In 1927 he was appointed to make a journey to Surinam to advise the governor about forest exploitation.
