Collectie gedrukte boeken verzameld door Jan Brugman (1923-2004), diplomaat in Egypte en hoogleraar Arabische taal en cultuurgeschiedenis aan de Leidse Universiteit. De collectie bestaat vooral uit Arabische literatuur en boeken over islamitisch en seculier recht.

Collection of printed books gathered by Jan Brugman (1923-2004), diplomat in Egypt and professor of Arabic culture and language at Leiden University. The collection mainly consists of Arabic literature and legal books on Islamic and secular law.

Het archief van Emile Gobée (1881-1954) bevat stukken met betrekking tot zijn loopbaan als bestuursambtenaar in Tentana en Poso (in Menado), als consul te Djeddah en als adviseur voor Inlandse zaken op Java en stukken over de Islam en Indonesische politieke partijen.

The archive of Emile Gobée (1881-1954) contains documents relating to his career as administrator in Tentana and Poso (in Menado), as consul in Jeddah and as adviser for Inland Affairs in Java and documents about Islam and Indonesian political parties.

Het archief Rudolf Aernoud Kern (1875-1958) bestaat uit documenten die betrekking hebben op zijn loopbaan als bestuursambtenaar op Java. Ook omvat het archief stukken van Kern met betrekking tot zijn functies binnen Nederland, als lector en als adviseur voor Inlandse zaken. Naast documenten omtrent Kern’s loopbaan, zijn er ook stukken uit het oud-archief Modjokerto opgenomen.

The Rudolf Aernoud Kern (1875-1958) archive comprises of material concerning his colonial administrative career on Java. Documents on his position in the Netherlands as lecturer and as consultant for Domestic affairs are part of the archive as well. Besides documents on Kern’s career, the archive also contains documents from the former archive of Modjokerto

Verzameling van gedrukten, oosterse handschriften, ego-documenten, foto’s en vroege geluidsopnamen van Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje (1857-1936), Nederlands meest prominente oriëntalist uit de late 19e eeuw en vroege 20e eeuw. Hij is vooral bekend vanwege zijn reis naar Mekka in 1884-1885 en de daaruit volgende publicatie Mekka (1888-1889). Van 1889 tot 1906 diende hij als adviseur voor inlandse zaken van het Gouvernement van Nederlandsch-Indië. Bij zijn terugkeer in Nederland in 1906 volgde hij M.J. de Goeje op als hoogleraar Arabisch in Leiden.

Collection of printed books, Oriental manuscripts, private papers, photographs and early sound recordings of Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje (1857-1936), the Netherlands’ most prominent Orientalist of the late 19th and early 20th century. He is mostly known for his journey to Mecca in 1884-1885 and his ensuing publication Mekka (1888-1889). From 1889 to 1906 he served as advisor on indigenous affairs to the Government of the Netherlands East Indies. Upon his return to the Netherlands in 1906 he succeeded M.J. de Goeje as professor of Arabic at Leiden University.
