Verzameling van ca. 1.200 Perzische handschriften en ca. 3.000 oude Perzische gedrukte boeken uit de 12e tot en met de 20e eeuw. De kern van de collectie behoort tot de nalatenschap van Levinus Warner (1619-1665), oriëntalist en diplomaat. De gehele Leidse collectie staat nog steeds bekend onder de naam Legatum Warnerianum (Warners nalatenschap), hoewel zowel voor als na Warner vele geleerden de collectie hebben uitgebouwd. De collectie omvat het gehele spectrum van het geschreven Perzische erfgoed, met name de literatuur, geschiedenis, islam en de exacte wetenschappen.

Collection of c. 1,200 Persian manuscripts and c. 3,000 rare Persian printed books dating from the 12th till the 20th century. The core of the collection is part of the legacy of Levinus Warner (1619-1665), Orientalist and diplomat, after whom the entire Leiden collection is still known as Legatum Warnerianum (Warner's Legacy). However, many scholars before and after him have contributed to its growth. The collection covers the entire range of the Persian written heritage, most notably Belles Lettres, history, Islam and the exact sciences.

J.P. Pfeiffer (1888-1947) werkte als ingenieur voor verschillende houtmaatschappijen in Nederlands-Indië, waaronder de Verenigde Indisch Bosch-Exploitatie Maatschappijen. In 1927 werd hij door de Nederlandse regering bovendien aangesteld om een reis naar Suriname te maken om de gouverneur te adviseren over houtaangelegenheden. Zijn archief bestaat uit stukken met betrekking tot de Verenigde Indisch Bosch-Exploitatie Maatschappijen en zijn bezoek aan Suriname.

J.P. Pfeiffer (1888-1947) worked as engineer for various timber companies, among which the United Indian Forest Exploitation Companies. In 1927 he was appointed to make a journey to Surinam to advise the governor about forest exploitation. His archive contains documents concerning the United Indian Forest Exploitation Companies and his visit to Surinam.

Zwart-wit foto’s genomen door de Amerikaanse fotografe Josephine Powell (1919-2007), verzameld door het vroegere Instituut voor Zuid-Aziatische Archeologie (Amsterdam), in de periode 1959-1988. Het betreft foto’s van monumenten, sites, museumobjecten, ethnografica en landschappen genomen tussen 1956-1975 in Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India (Fatehpur Sikri, Agra, Gangesgebied, Kashmir, Orissa), Bangladesh, Nepal en Thailand. Hierbij domineren de architectuurfoto’s.
