Immediate Source of Acquisition
Mrs. W.H. Piek-van Ditmar bequeathed the collection of drawings, assembled by her late husband H. Piek, to the Dutch State in 1968. The collection was stored at the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD) in The Hague, with the assignment to distribute the drawings among Dutch museums. Twenty-one drawings came to Leiden, the others went to the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE). A few drawings had remained with the family and were auctioned at the Venduhuis der Notarissen in The Hague on 6-8 November 1968, together with the library.
No future additions are to be expected.
The material can be requested and consulted in the Special Collections Reading Room.
